Cops: Dad angry over child support kills son

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28485556/
In New Orleans a twenty two year old father is accused of murdering his two year old son.... the reason?? He was overly "stressed" by the amount of child support he owed the little boys mother, his estranged wife. The father called the estranged wife shortly after picking up their son and he claimed the boy had been kidnapped...she asked if he had called the police and with no response she found he had not contacted the police. He then made a very elaborate story of how three men had abducted the boy. but later the man led the police to the little boys body and was booked with first degree murder.

i agree completely with laurens question of why did he choose to kill his only son over his ex wife...either one is a bad idea but still his son had no say in this situation what so ever! I also agree that it had to have been over something more than just child support to kill a little two year old boy in cold blood and then make up some kidnapping story. its sick and twisted, i hope this man rots in prison and the little boy rests in peace. :(

Homicides down in some large U.S. cities

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28479772/
Murder, a common topic in news stories, but this murder story has a little happier ending indeed. The murder rates are decreasing. In Milwaukee alone the murder rates have gone down by a third! Even in bigger cities like New York and Chicago slayings seem to be decreasing. And Milwaukee police president John Balcerzak, gives credit to this light of new hope to Police Chief Edward Flynn. He has been trying new tactics like ground walking police and response to lower importance phone calls.

I agree with Ashleigh brandt ( http://ashleighssii.blogspot.com/ ) on this that it is very important and a very good idea to have larger city police focus on new ways and tactics in stopping crimes of all sizes (especially murders) And even though the rates have gone down significantly, the police forces still arent satisfied because there is still murder and still crime. they will not rest until they see that all is safe and sound. its really important that they think all life matters!!

Abandoned tot leads Ohio police to slain mom

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28494791/

In Dayton, Ohio a toddler was found by a maryland couple. He was wandering around near a gas station, when the couple asked where his mommy was he explained in clear detail that his mother had been shot by a strange man who had entered their home without knocking. The mother, Jennifer Nelson (29), was found just as the boy had explained. The boys fathers vehicle had been stolen recently and Vickie Nelson (the boys grandmother and womans mother-in-law) believed that is how the murderer had found where the Nelsons live. 2 Computers were stolen and there is still an investigation. The stolen vehicle has been located.

Its so sad and tramatic that the little boy had to see his mother be shot and that he has such a clear memory of how everything happened. hopefully the little boy can help with the arrest and conviction in this case. Its confusing how they think the grandmothers car is the getaway vehicle and that they found the stolen car but they havent found any suspects or anything like that.
